19 Sep 2017 05:24 PM | PoC in MAIN

The September 2017 meeting of The Cthulhu Breakfast Club sees your hosts joined by guest, MikeM, Call of Cthulhu Line Developer for Chaosium Inc. We ply Mike with various herbal infusions to get him to tell us all about the new edition of Masks of Nyarlathotep, Gotham, and what went on at NecronomiCon 2017.

There may also have been a longer-than-intended segment on Lovecraftian leather...

To celebrate Mike being our guest this month, this recording of the CBC is freely available for the next week or so.

Call of Cthulhu: Reign of Terror

12 Sep 2017 09:10 AM | PoC in MAIN

Chaosium have released Reign of Terror, a two-part Call of Cthulhu scenario set in 18th Century Revolutionary France (discussed on Monday's News from Pnakotus #049). Reign of Terror is playable as a stand-alone adventure or as an interlude in Chaosium's Horror on the Orient Express campaign.

The supplement also provides a stand-alone setting, offering historical details to help the Keeper bring Paris and the French Revolution to life along with detailed maps, a timeline for the French Revolution, an extensive bibliography and scenario seeds for extending play.

Reign of Terror is out now from Chaosium in PDF.

Out of the Woods

06 Sep 2017 11:00 AM | PoC in MAIN

Out of the Woods from Pelgrane Press is a new scenario anthology for Trail of Cthulhu with a particular sylvan focus...

"The shadowy depths of the primeval forest are the ancient source of our collective fears. But there is worse in the woods than timber wolves and fairy tales; you can lose not just your way, but your mind, too. This brand new collection of Trail of Cthulhu adventures explores hidden groves and endless avenues – the hideous soul of Lovecraft's forest."

Featuring five scenarios by Adam Gauntlett, Lauren Roy, Chris Spivey, Ruth Tillman and Aaron Vanek, containing extensive handouts, maps and pre-generated characters for each adventure.

Available now from Pelgrane's web shop.

Pelgrane's Cthulhu City

30 Aug 2017 09:50 AM | PoC in MAIN

Pelgrane Press have released Cthulhu City, "...a place born from all of Lovecraft’s creations, and governed by servitors of the Old Ones" - a Trail of Cthulhu setting supplement which is "...usable for a full campaign in its own right or as a nightmarish intrusion into an existing game".

Written by Gareth Ryder-Hanrahan, the 224 page book also features work by a veritable host of artists realising this rather alternative spin on the norm for Lovecraftian investigations.

Cthulhu City includes The Whispering Light, ..."a full-length noir-flavoured adventure set in Great Arkham that takes investigators on a tour of the mysterious city… and into the beyond...".

Pick it up from Pelgrane's web shop now, and all the other usual places later.

All Yoggie's Call of Cthulhu Recordings: Fr...

28 Aug 2017 11:43 AM | PoC in MAIN

Next month sees the end of one of the longest eras on YSDC, with the last session of our final Call of Cthulhu campaign game, The Curse of Nineveh. It brings to a conclusion a 12 year run of Call of Cthulhu gaming with the Innsmouth House Players having journeyed through 10 epic adventures between September 2005 and September 2017.

How things have changed over those years...

To mark this rather momentous event in our history I will be releasing every Call of Cthulhu game recording we've ever posted – as the headline says: "Free, For Everyone, Forever".

This will happen between now and the end of the year (simply to pace server load). Our Masks of Nyarlathotep recordings were released yesterday, and next week will see the Walker in the Wastes recordings made public.

Does this mean the end of our games? No, far from it; simply a new era beginning in 2018. Stay tuned to YSDC to find out more.
